Electrical Design Engineer

Location: National (UK wide)
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £45,000 to £60,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus open ended commission plan + company bonus + company car allowance + private medical insurance + pension

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Senior Sales Engineer to join our small team in the UK. Reporting to the Sales Director, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth of Sensor Centre. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a close-knit team where your ideas and contributions will directly impact our success.

You will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building relationships with existing and potential clients, and contributing to the overall expansion of our market presence at both end user and OEM level. This role requires an understanding of factory automation, excellent interpersonal skills, and a proven track record in achieving and exceeding sales targets.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Build rapport and establish long-term relationships with customers both new and existing through a mixture of email, telephone and face to face contact.
  • Achieve targets by identifying sales opportunities, telephoning and visiting customers and potential customers.
  • Account management activities, including sales presentations, dealing with sales inquiries, sales proposals and quotations, negotiating and closing deals.
  • Follow up all enquiries and quotations promptly.
  • Conduct product demonstrations, installations and customer training.
  • Establish and maintain a good knowledge of our products and where they are used.
  • Problem solving on the phone, through email or attending the customers’ premises.
  • Attend relevant trade shows and other marketing related events (some overseas travel will be required).
  • Work closely with our supply partners.
  • Maintain our ACT CRM database to ensure all required information is kept up to date.

Candidate requirements: 

  • Several years of experience and success in technical sales.
  • Experience or knowledge in some or all of the following, specifying and supporting position and measurement sensors, optical based safety products and handheld and fixed barcode reading solutions.
  • An understanding of manufacturing processes and the uses of industrial automation in order to fully understand and identify the customers’ needs and requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • A well rounded individual with excellent presentation and negotiation skills with the confidence to demonstrate products at all levels from senior management to the shop floor.
  • Target driven motivated.
  • Excellent planning and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to work autonomously from a home based office.
  • Laptop proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Full UK Driving Licence. Full training will be given on products and systems.
