A latest high-speed door can be used in oxygen reduction systems at industrial/commercial sites

ASSA ABLOY’s new RP150 high-speed door can meet the needs of oxygen reduction systems (ORS) which are adopted as an alternative to sprinkler protection. Indeed, the company has drafted a White Paper to help manufacturers adopt this technology in their industrial or commercial facilities.

ORS lower the oxygen content in the air to prevent a fire from igniting and spreading within an enclosed area. A sealed entrance solution is therefore an essential component which is where the new RP150 door comes in. This door is also capable of handling high levels of automation, such as conveyor belt systems, while increasing fire safety throughout the facility. Fast, robust and sufficiently airtight, the door helps to maintain ORS, says the company.

For facilities with automated applications and processes, the risk of potential fire is ever present. And for high-volume, high-speed automated processes with heavy or many moving parts, electrical components, or flammable materials, the potential for sparks and fire ignition is even higher.

In these environments, conventional fire protection systems such as water sprinklers, foam or other chemical anti-inflammatory materials may not be adequate alone, and may damage equipment, materials, or machinery and prolong downtime.

ORS are recommended for materials handling facilities and facilities with automated processes, as well as low-temperature environments, protected areas or hard to-access spaces.

In fact, says ASSA ABLOY, they are already on the way to becoming the industry standard for fire prevention in warehouses, storage, and materials handling facilities, with closed rooms, automated machinery or sensitive areas.

Fast, and easy to integrate into control systems of automated applications, the ASSA ABLOY RP150 high-speed, roll-up door offers protection, while optimising floor space and allowing for increased efficiency.

The ASSA ABLOY RP150 also offers:

  • a fast opening and closing cycle,
  • a slim but stable profile, making it ideal for installation between conveyors, and
  • easy access for inspections.

Slim yet durable, the RP150 is specifically designed to meet the many requirements of ORS in automated industrial and commercial properties. The airtight door offers perfect sealing as the door curtain is constructed from one single piece, with a continuous seal along the curtain perimeter and special seals to prevent any air leakage in the frame.

The compact design helps optimise floor space, while advanced safety features reduce the chance of operational failure, allowing for increased business efficiency.

With fast speed and short cycle times, the ASSA ABLOY RP150 increases product flow and process productivity, and is proven to improve traffic flow and minimise downtime without compromising on safety or efficiency. With a minimal number of parts, it’s simple to install and maintain which results in less downtime, which is a must-have in automated environments.
