Spiroflow says it has doubled the fill rate on bulk bags, as it reports that 77% of sector professionals are thinking of upgrading or replacing their systems in the next two years.
In its latest State of Bulk Bag Handling report, the Akona Process Solutions company quotes close to all respondents (98%) as saying they have seen an increase in activity over the past year, and more than half (52%) experiencing growth rates exceeding 11%.
Efficiency is a major focus, says Spiroflow, with 44% of respondents seeking to enhance operational performance through equipment upgrades. Modern bulk bag systems allow companies to maximise loads, the company points out, particularly for materials with bulk densities under 30lb/ft³. This can result in significant transport and storage savings. Additionally, 42% of industry professionals seek to minimise downtime by investing in newer equipment for easier maintenance and quicker part replacements, it reports.
Less of a concern, though still important, are workplace ergonomics. Just under a third of respondents emphasised improving operator safety and comfort. Upgraded bulk bag handling systems reduce manual handling, bending, and stretching, says Spiroflow, mitigating common risks associated with materials handling.
In response to these needs, the company says it has introduced a series of new systems, among them the Cone Table Elite (CTE) Bulk Bag Filler. This is designed to fill over 40 bags per hour, compared to the conventional 20 bags. The filler offers a weighing accuracy of +/- 1-2 lbs, it claims, and employs advanced densification technology, allowing for up to 25% more product per bag.
In addition, Spiroflow has introduced a new sack tip station that improves air quality and material handling efficiency, addressing common workplace challenges associated with bulk bag handling.
