Turin-based Fiorentini has a new coding system reaching from primary packaging to case- and pallet-labelling, in a Markem-Imaje installation integrating CoLOS software.
The labelling and coding hardware includes Smartdate thermal transfer overprinters, 9400 series continuous inkjet coding and the Markem-Imaje 2200 Series print-and-apply system. The entire infrastructure is managed by CoLOS production software.
Operations director Luca Perri describes Fiorentini as a “modern and cutting-edge company”. As such, he was keen to find a partner capable of providing an equally modern and robust coding and labelling environment.
“Markem-Imaje is in fact the only player in the coding market to have offered us an integrated solution, complete with a proprietary software platform, coders of proven reliability and above all the knowledge of industrial environments necessary to plan and complete this project,” he says.
Regulatory standards have to be applied all the way from raw materials to processes, Markem-Imaje points out, and this is where its expertise in the management of coding data comes into play. This ensures the correct correlation between information and pack, it says, with respect to each item in production.
According to the supplier, CoLOS works in parallel with management and industrial automation programmes, demonstrating great flexibility for real-time data exchange. The versatility and robustness of the software, it adds, enables variable coding on each individual item according to the information exchanged with the management system. The print and data management system has helped Fiorentini improve its production efficiency and traceability, claims Guido Torriglia, area sales manager at Markem-Imaje.
“The fact that makes us deeply proud is to have provided a solution capable of working in a complex IT environment to manage a dynamic and extremely varied production data ecosystem,” he states.
