New Gov.UK Service to Hire Redundant Apprentices

The Government has launched a new comprehensive service to support redundant apprentices through greater employer engagement.

The service comprises three elements:

  • advice and guidance
  • signposting to additional support; and
  • a vacancy sharing service.

The active involvement and participation of employers, regardless of sector specialism, is key to making the vacancy sharing service become an effective and successful tool for many individuals.

Employer Outreach

The Government is urging employers to submit vacancies as soon as possible to help transform the career prospects for others in the future.

In doing so, you will be able to reach apprentices that already have significant transferable skills, strong experience and detailed knowledge of their professions. Some will even be close to completing their apprenticeships.

For employers, recruiting a redundant apprentice will be a valuable investment; enhanced by an incentive payment for taking on a new recruit as part of the ‘Plan for Jobs’ announced by the Chancellor.

Businesses will be eligible for £2,000 for each new apprentice they hire under the age of 25; and £1,500 per new apprentice aged 25+, where these apprentices are taken on between 1 August 2020 and 31 January 2021.

Register your vacancies

To submit your opportunities, click here to follow a quick and easy process.

You will be prompted to list your apprenticeship opportunity, confirm where it’s based, and how apprentices can contact you to apply.

The Government wants to act quickly to connect young people with employers with new opportunities. Redundant apprentices include high caliber and skilled individuals who are seeking an instant return to the workplace.

How it works

If you registered your vacancy before 12 August 2020, your role will be advertised to redundant apprentices who have registered for the service on 17 August 2020.

Thereafter, registered job vacancies will be made available to all redundant apprentices every two weeks.
