Videojet has announced a new washable invisible fluorescent ink which is ideal for ‘covert coding’ on glass and metal returnable containers. Being able to quickly determine the origination of a container helps to speed up the whole grading process of recycling and gives reassurance to producers. This ink is caustic washable and invisible to the unaided eye, becoming fluorescent blue under UV light. The V4254 ink is used to apply invisible fluorescent identification blocks to returnable and reusable glass bottles, helping to sort them from non-returnable/non-reusable ones. V4254 ink delivers excellent adhesion on aluminium, steel, polystyrene, polyester, polycarbonate, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), and paper board. Returnable/reusable glass bottles have thicker and stronger construction to survive multiple cycles through the supply chain.

• Videojet iQMark™ food packaging compliant

• Compliant with Swiss and German food packaging regulations

• Fluoresces at 433nm when excited by UV light at 365nm

• Improved adhesion to glass and dry heat resistance compared to V4259

• Removable in typical caustic wash baths used for returnable glass bottles
