The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) is holding a live webinar on 2 March 2021 to address technological innovations that are paving the way for more efficient and sustainable ways of cooling.
With the cold chain responsible for approximately 2.5% of global greenhouse gases and the UK’s 2050 zero-carbon target drawing ever closer, the engineering community need to consider more efficient and sustainable ways to be sustainable.
The face of the cold chain industry is also experiencing considerable change with the impact of COVID-19 on food shopping and storage habits, the need to prepare for vaccine distribution as well as the challenges of Brexit.
Against this backdrop, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers’ forthcoming Engineering an efficient and sustainable cold chain online seminar (2 March 2021) will feature insights from industry and academia covering the latest technological innovations paving the way for more efficient and sustainable ways of delivering cooling across production, storage, transport and retail.
One of the event’s speakers, Aerofoil Energy CEO Paul McAndrew notes that “attending events like these are important as they help us see outside of our own bubbles. One innovative solution is not enough, we have to try to be more joined-up in our approaches and collaborate with others. The saying ‘the whole is greater than the sum of its parts’ fits well.”
