What is Pick-to-Light? Pick-to-Light is a highly efficient item picking solution that uses light-directed technology to guide warehouse operators to the exact location of items to be picked. Each storage location is equipped with an illuminated display. When an order is initiated, the relevant lights activate, clearly indicating which items need to be picked and how many. Once the item is picked, the operator presses a button. If necessary, they can adjust the quantity in real time to account for stock shortages or picking exceptions.

The most common forms of conveyor utilise roller technology, depending on requirements, speeds, product type and budget there are several types of roller conveyor. The modular design allows for the cost-effective integration of conveyor modules to create highly efficient and adaptable materials handling solutions.

Roller Conveyor Technology includes:
Maximise your warehouse/Production capacity with mezzanine flooring
Looking to expand your warehouse/production operations without the cost and disruption of relocating? Mezzanine flooring offers a smart, cost-effective solution to increase your usable space within your existing facility.
At CSL Automation, we design and install mezzanine floors that seamlessly integrate with storage systems, conveyors, automation, goods lifts, and other material handling equipment—tailored to suit both your current operation and future growth.
Why choose a mezzanine floor?
Our team will create a mezzanine layout that delivers the ideal grid pattern for your specific storage and automation needs. A well-planned mezzanine becomes a key component of your end-to-end warehouse flow—from Goods In, through storage, order picking, multi-floor movement, packing, and despatch.
Key benefits:
Whether you’re modernising your warehouse or preparing for growth, CSL’s mezzanine flooring solutions help you get the most from every square metre.
What is Put-to-Light? Put-to-Light works on the same light-guided principle but in reverse. It's designed for replenishment, directing operators to the correct locations for placing items into inventory or onto a Put Wall for consolidation. After placing the item, the operator confirms the action via a button press. Like Pick-to-Light, the system allows for adjustments—such as handling shortages or reallocating stock—while maintaining accuracy & efficiency.

Applications for Put-to-Light
Maximise space, improve picking accuracy, and streamline your operations with automated vertical storage systems. Designed around the goods-to-person principle, these systems automatically retrieve items from vertically arranged trays or bins and deliver them to an ergonomic access point—saving time, space, and labour.
Ideal for warehouses, factories, and distribution centres, automated vertical storage systems offer a compact and secure alternative to traditional shelving, making better use of available height while reducing floor space requirements.
Key benefits of automated storage:
Warehouses and fulfilment centres use various methods to effectively store products for picking and storage. A well-designed storage plan will maximise available space and provide quick access for replenishment and picking.
The best solutions depend on product type, stock life cycle, throughputs, etc, and might be a mixture of different storage systems such as:
Autonomous Mobile Robots, commonly known as AMRs, are increasingly used in warehouses, fulfilment centres, and manufacturing facilities to perform a wide range of tasks. These intelligent systems are equipped with sensors and AI-driven navigation software, allowing them to move dynamically through complex environments, avoiding obstacles and optimising routes in real time.
Key features of AMRs
AMRs can be tailored to support a variety of applications, including goods-to-person, rack-to-person, pallet handling, and more.
Benefits of AMRs
Whether integrated into an existing automation system or deployed independently, AMRs enhance operational efficiency through speed, safety, and scalability.
Automated packing machines
Automated packing machines are a smart addition to any high-volume operation, helping to streamline fulfilment, reduce manual handling, and deliver a fast ROI. By scanning each order and creating a custom-sized carton, these advanced systems optimise every package for speed, efficiency, and precision.
With fewer touchpoints and faster processing, automated packing dramatically boosts your order throughput and packing accuracy.
Key features:
Automated packing lines
Automated packing lines can be configured to suit your operation—whether hand-loaded or fully automated using conveyors, each setup produces consistently secure, fit-to-size packaging ready for despatch.
Benefits of automated packing:
Control software is a vital part of every automation system we deliver, ranging from simple push-button controls, to fully integrated SCADA systems linked with your WMS. Each controls package is tailored to meet your current operational needs while allowing room for future scalability.
Our intelligent software improves warehouse performance by streamlining material flow, increasing throughput, minimising idle time, improving accuracy, enabling real-time monitoring, and helping to reduce overall operational costs.
Features of integration & control software
Our bespoke control systems are built around your specific automation setup and operational goals—whether that’s basic product routing or a complex digital interface connecting automation with your WMS or WCS frameworks.
Key features include:
Mezzanine goods lifts
CSL’s mezzanine goods lifts offer a safe, efficient solution for moving goods—and in some cases, personnel—between mezzanine levels in both new and existing facilities. Available in a range of configurations, our lifts can be tailored to meet your specific operational requirements.
Our lift options:
Designed for transporting loads ranging from 250kg to 3,000kg, these lifts provide a reliable method for moving pallets and materials between floors with minimal manual handling.
With a capacity of up to 3,000kg, these lifts are engineered to safely carry both goods and authorised personnel, ensuring efficient movement within your facility.
Key benefits of CSL mezzanine goods lifts:
Product sortation solutions for warehouses & fulfilment centres
Efficient sortation is vital for the smooth operation of warehouses and eCommerce fulfilment centres. From simple routing changes to high-speed sorting prior to dispatch, CSL offers tailored solutions to suit every application.
Our systems use various triggers—such as carrier labels, barcodes, RFID, LPN (Licence Plate Numbers), weight, size, or colour—in combination with your WMS to make intelligent, real-time decisions and control sortation hardware effectively.
Sortation equipment options
We offer a wide range of sortation technologies to meet the demands of different industries and throughput requirements, including:
Boosting throughput & accuracy
Automating your sortation process doesn't just increase throughput—it also enhances accuracy compared to manual handling. Sortation systems can be integrated into new automation projects or added to existing operations as an end-of-line enhancement.
Whether you need a simple two-way switch or a high-capacity 40-destination crossbelt sorter, CSL can design and implement a solution tailored to your operation.
At CSL Automation, we understand that your conveyor and automation systems are vital to the smooth operation of your business. That’s why we offer ConveyorCare – a dedicated range of maintenance and servicing solutions tailored to meet the unique demands of your equipment.
Conveyor and automation systems are intricate – combining mechanical components with complex electrical systems. Without regular attention, even minor issues can lead to costly breakdowns and safety risks. Our Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) approach ensures your system is inspected, serviced, and maintained in line with best practices and manufacturers’ guidelines.
Automating the movement of pallets within warehouses and factories offers a wide range of benefits, helping businesses progress toward fully automated operations.
CSL design and install pallet and stillage handling systems capable of transporting loads from empty single pallets to 2-ton weights, using either simple transit or accumulation modes. These systems are ideal for linking production and finishing areas, and are typically based on roller or chain conveyor technology.
Comprehensive pallet handling solutions
Our pallet conveyor systems can be integrated with a wide range of equipment, including:
Whether using standard or non-standard wooden pallets, CSL offers flexible and cost-effective solutions tailored to your needs. We also provide bespoke systems for specialised applications, including non-standard pallets, cages, or environments with extreme conditions such as cold stores or outdoor settings (as low as -27°C).
