Dairy manufacturers stand to gain from group’s newly-united divisions

BW Packaging says that bringing together its form-fill-seal, fill-seal, filling and capping ranges and more will especially benefit dairy producers.

By the end of last year, BW had successfully completed the unification of its three divisions – BW Filling & Closing, BW Flexible Systems and BW Integrated Systems – into a single organisation under the BW Packaging brand. This move was driven by a desire to strengthen the business’s ability to design, deliver and support fully-integrated lines and provide lifetime aftermarket care for customers globally.

Now, dairy manufacturers will find under one roof systems including: Hayssen flow-wrappers and vertical baggers for cheese; Dairy Pack fill-seal and Arcil form-fill-seal machines for yogurt, sour cream, dips and cottage cheese; as well as Hema and Pneumatic Scale filling and capping equipment for drinkable yogurts and dairy drinks.

The newly-unified BW Packaging brings together primary packaging, labelling and end-of-line equipment into a single entity, which allows dairy producers to engage with them as a one-stop shop. A simplified customer experience was the objective, says BW Packaging’s chief product & marketing officer Denning Saum.

“It’s not about being all things to all customers, but about being the best partner we can in the markets where we believe we have the greatest ability to make a difference,” he says. “Cheese and dairy are good examples of this. Individually, our flow-wrappers, vertical baggers and thermoform-fill-seal solutions have always held value for our customers – but by bringing these technologies and areas of expertise together, now we can focus on the needs of our customers holistically and deliver even more value through integrated lines and seamless collaboration across our teams.”

The updated BW Packaging has put these improvements into practice, with the launch of the Hayssen X850 flow-wrapper. This is a significant packaging innovation for sliced and block cheese producers requiring both high speeds and high seal integrity, says BW. The machine runs at up to 300 packs per minute with over 1 second of dwell time, detecting and clearing product jams without stopping.
