Filler offers firm control handling pouches from roll-stock to carousel

Spain’s Mespack says its HKE series of horizontal form-fill-seal (HFFS) machines is able to deliver stability and repeat seal quality in high-speed production.

The series, launched at interpack in May, features modules which offer uninterrupted production from roll-stock, running at up to 240 packs per minute (ppm), and filling premade pouches (up to 225ppm).

Modules for roll-stock and premade pouches can be engineered separately or, if required, on the same machine.

The electronically-controlled platform utilises vertically-positioned carousel technology, says Mespack, designed to ensure precise pouch handling at every stage of the process. By gripping the pouch once and maintaining full control throughout the cycle, the HKE Series achieves outstanding stability, it adds, enabling higher speeds without compromising accuracy, seal quality or product integrity.

Innovation director Guillem Lloret underlines the importance of the asynchronous motion in the carousel. “By decoupling transport, filling and sealing movements, we can independently optimise each station instead of forcing the entire machine to run at the same rhythm,” he explains. “This asynchronisation allows us to combine higher speed with exceptional pouch stability, even in continuous roll-stock production.”

Mespack’s HKE supports a wide range of pouch formats and product types, including powders, granules, liquids, solids and pods, for example. It is fully equipped for recycle ready materials, advanced sealing technologies, hygienic design, and washdown options, Mespack adds.

The series also enables the integration of smart process control options, such as Smart Digital Sealing for precise and energy efficient sealing, or Inline Thermographic Inspection systems, providing real time seal quality monitoring and enhanced process reliability.
