Join the race to manufacture visors for NHS staff

Do you have a laser cutter?  If yes, you could produce 10,000 much-needed visors for front-line NHS staff and care workers in just a few weeks.

Whatever your industry background, PPMA members Grunwald and RARUK Automation have proved that you do not need much to manufacture and assemble vital personal protective equipment (PPE) during a time of a national crisis.

Through a FREE open source design from Nottingham-based Kitronic, Grunwald UK has already come to the aid of a palliative Lincolnshire care unit and is on course to manufacture and assemble thousands more visors in the coming days.

Speaking of the initiative and working partnership with RARUK Automation, James Causebrook, co-owner of Grunwald UK and PPMA director, said:

“A lot of PPMA member companies, like us, already have access to a laser cutter to manufacturer the various components that make up the face visors. The supporting CAD software is free to download, and the acetate sheets required can be purchased from a variety of online suppliers. To mount the acetate, you simply set a hole punch to A6.

“We’ve proved that it doesn’t take much to manufacturer the components to make almost 50 face visors per hour; each of which is vital to helping to protect frontline healthcare personnel.

“If all companies that have the capability to manufacturer PPE can help increase production volumes, we can all get through this pandemic,” he added.

To join the fight to save lives and stop the spread of the coronavirus, here’s how:
