Sidel has launched the SWING Evo, which utilises a counterflow concept and precisely manages pasteurisation, water use and energy consumption.
These settings can be measured and precisely controlled for each module, says Sidel. Applicable to glass and cans, the system is said to deliver substantial cost savings without compromising product quality or operational flexibility.
“By ensuring that each module is autonomous and running the top and bottom decks in opposite directions, we have been able to create a pasteuriser that optimises every drop of water and kilowatt of energy with no trade-off on quality,” product manager for tunnels Andrea Solfa claims.
Thanks to its counterflow configuration and dedicated heat and water circuits, SWING Evo minimises heat dispersion and eliminates unnecessary circulation between tanks, Sidel explains. Each module is independently controlled, allowing the system to adapt precisely to production needs. It is said to offer reductions of 10% in water consumption, 35% in electricity usage and 10% in steam utilisation.
The pasteuriser integrates the PRINCE X predictive control system, dynamically adjusting conditions and ensuring precise heat treatment.
Refresco was the first customer to install SWING Evo at its Sulmona site, with the modular and largely pre-assembled design installed and commissioned inside a week.
As manufacturing director at Refresco Italia Tullio Tiozzo explains, Refresco works to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards across its business.
“This technology supports more efficient management of energy and water within our operations,” he says. “Compared with our previous solution, we achieved a reduction in energy and water consumption by a factor of 15 to 20, bringing us fully in line with our ESG commitments. This project has been a great success, thanks to the level of innovation it brings compared to traditional pasteurisers.”
