Leading UK ultrasonic automation specialist expands its Bedfordshire base following period of sustained growth
Newtech, the UK-based designer and manufacturer of industrial ultrasonic cutting, robotic, and automated food processing solutions has announced the expansion into Unit 5 at Stoke Mill, Sharnbrook - a major expansion that will significantly increase the company's manufacturing capacity and create a dedicated research and development environment.
The new 10,000 sq ft facility, situated directly adjacent to Newtech's existing premises at Units 2 and 3, will be transformed into a dedicated mechanical and electrical build and manufacturing space, enabling the company to ramp up production of its industry-leading systems for customers worldwide. The expansion brings Newtech's total operational footprint to approximately 16,000 sq ft - nearly three times its previous manufacturing space.
Driven by sustained demand and rapid growth
The move follows a period of exceptional business performance. Over the past two years, Newtech has more than doubled in size, experiencing increased demand across its full range of solutions - from its Ultrasonic cutting and Pick & Place machine ranges through to fully bespoke automated systems. Having reached physical capacity at its existing site, the expansion into the additional unit provides the infrastructure required to support the next phase of the company's growth.
Richard Smith, Managing Director of Newtech, said: "We've outgrown our space, and that's a great problem to have. This expansion gives us the room to manufacture more, innovate faster, and bring genuinely exciting technologies to market. This investment is ultimately about making Newtech an even stronger partner to the businesses that rely on us."
A comprehensive transformation of the site
The expansion will reshape how Newtech's entire Stoke Mill site is configured and utilised. Key changes include:
Manufacturing output will increase immediately as the new space comes online, with the full programme of upgrades and fit-out scheduled for completion over the next 12 months.
Looking ahead at Newtech
The investment underscores Newtech's long-term commitment to UK manufacturing and its confidence in the continued growth of demand for intelligent automation solutions in the food industry. With a dedicated R&D space, the company is well-positioned to accelerate the development of next-generation technologies and bring enhanced capabilities to market more rapidly.
Founded over 30 years ago, Newtech distributes its solutions to food manufacturers worldwide, serving sectors including bakery, cheese, food-to-go, and meat and poultry processing.
