Do you want to develop your engineering skills and win £2,000? If yes, the Apprentice Automation Challenge 2021 is now live.
Organised by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), this year’s Apprentice Automation Challenge provides throws down the gauntlet for teams of apprentices from businesses, colleges and training providers of engineering and manufacturing technologies from UK and overseas to register a team.
In line with the Institution’s core objective to develop the next generation of engineering talent, the Challenge provides the unique opportunity for apprentices to design and manufacture a product to automate a task in the home or garden.
It could be a device to help get you out of bed in the morning, or something to make an otherwise boring task easier and quicker to do. Regardless, it provides applicants with the scope to learn and develop new skills and practical abilities.
Apprenticeships are a great route into a career in engineering, equipping people with the skills needed to be an asset to any business. Empowering apprentices to showcase their skills and giving them a platform to be creative is essential for growth and instilling confidence.
Registration for the Apprentice Automation Challenge is open until 18 February 2021. Click here to apply. The prototypes will be judged at a final event in September 2021, where the Apprentice Automation Challenge champion will be announced and win £2,000.
The competition is open to UK and International teams. All team members must be a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. To apply for free IMechE membership, please complete the online form. Your IMechE membership number can be submitted after registration is complete.
